International award-winning medical drama starring British actor Hugh Lawrie as New Jersey doctor Gregory House. House and his team of young medical experts are constantly challenged with complex and unusual diagnoses with House himself leading the way with his radical and often confrontational theories. House himself is a complex individual who has medical problems of his own, most notably an injured leg that causes him constant pain and requires him to walk with the aid of a cane. A maverick in the field of medicine House is sarcastic, cantankerous and shows little respect to his patients and colleagues, often going as far as to mock them. However, while his methods are unorthodox, they almost always produce positive results.
This series was created by Oscar nominee Paul Attenasio, Emmy Winner David Shore and widely respected director Bryan Singer and the character of Dr. House has widely been recognised as a medical equivalent of the fictional super-sleuth Sherlock Holmes.
Hugh Lawrie won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his performance; while the show itself has been nominated for several Emmy awards.
