    A man is found murdered in a park and the detectives call upon a mentally challenged patient to help solve the case. Rick Devon's (guest star Bradford Cover) body is found murdered in a park, and his death is automatically assumed to be drug related. Upon investigation, detectives Cyrus Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson) stumble upon a key in a nearby bathroom that could potentially have been left behind by the killer. Prints on the key lead the detectives to former felon, Diego Cardenas (guest star Carlos Leon), who has cleaned up his act and now works at a home for mentally challenged adults. After questioning Diego, the detectives discover a hidden relationship between the murder victim and another resident of the home, Pete Haynes (guest star Michael Rispoli). Detective Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Detective Bernard (Anthony Anderson) are called to a crime scene where Nancy Hartwig (guest star Leah Curney) has been found murdered. They find out her husband insisted the family live environmentally friendly to avoid leaving a heavy carbon footprint. However, Nancy's support of her husband is soon called into question when the detectives discover that she used her car to chauffeur her sister and had drinks at a bar one evening, which her husband wouldn't allow. The victim's missing car turns up with a dead passenger and drugs inside, sending the case in a completely different direction that leaves the detectives scrambling to piece everything together. During the trial, ADA Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) also begins to suspect an old friend, Judge Reynolds' (guest star Ned Beatty) clerk Carly (guest star Sherry Stringfield), and even the judge himself of obstructing justice, creating even more turmoil in the case.     Stockbroker Todd Hauser (guest star Graham Outerbridge) dies in an emergency room after experiencing stomach pains, which was thought to be the result of what he ate for lunch. Massive internal bruising is determined as the cause of death leading detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Bernard) to uncover the victim’s involvement in organized street fighting. The detectives struggle to find a helpful witness and usable evidence.

    When Hauser’s street fighting opponent is let off with a lesser sentence than the victim’s family hoped for, his brother and friends take matters into their own hands. A tourist from upstate New York has come to the city to settle his past, but his trip ends quickly when he is suspiciously murdered. When Detectives Bernard (Anthony Anderson) and Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) travel upstate to New York they find more to the story. A.D.A Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Detective Lupo (Sisto) believe the town's crowned king of drug busting is Sheriff John Burkhart (Guest Star Clancy Brown) and his deputies are involved in the murder but have no way to prove it when the case becomes a game of dirty politics. Detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard’s (Anthony Anderson) search for "Sweetie Ness’" killer leads them to Lauren Claiborne (Taylor Gildersleeve), part of the entourage at the club where “Sweetie Ness” was last seen alive. Janice Dunlap (Guest Star Heather Matarazzo), a stalker who had sent “Sweetie” poems and had followed him that night and Kate Tenny (Guest Star Vivica Fox), “Sweetie’s” agent, who has her own motives.     An incident at a sorority party 30 years ago leads to a double murder. Harold and Joyce Foley (guest stars Stephen Kunken and Erin Dilly), both wellknown biologists at a local university, come home to find their young son Eric (guest star Timothee Chalamet) and the housekeeper brutally murdered. Detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) believe that the Foley's work on a controversial pharmaceutical study made them targets for the killer. Ned Lasky (guest star Matt Malloy), a reporter for Science Today who may have some serious emotional issues, has also been
    harassing the Foley's. Lupo and Bernard take Joyce on a trip down memory lane to a sorority party 30 years ago to find some answers. With very little evidence to work with, A.D.A's Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza) work diligently to track down a key witness who was there. Also stars S.     The murder of married laywers leads detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) to a child slave trade ring. Divorce Lawyers Fred and Lizzy Bellamy (guest stars Paul DeBoy and Maureen Silliman) are brutally murdered while asleep in their home. The investigation leads to a client, Ann Carter (guest star Mary Beth O’Connor), who is involved in a nasty child custody battle with her husband Bill (guest star Steven Friedman) involving an adopted Haitian daughter, whom the detectives believe was molested and sent back to Haiti as part of a cover-up. Lupo and Bernard’s search for the missing child leads them to another couple with an adopted Haitian boy, Eric and Miriam Johnson (guest stars Tom Gilroy and Jessica Hecht). Lieutenant Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson) gets social services involved as it appears that the adopted boy, 12-year-old Patrick Johnson (guest star Thuliso Dingwall), has been abused and neglected. As Lupo and Bernard dig deeper, they uncover a trail of abuse, kidnapping and bribery that leads them to multiple suspects with motive to protect the secret. As A.D.A.’s Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza) attempt to bring the killer to justice, they must also deal with the emotional aspect of the case and work to safeguard the lives of the children.     The murder of a plaintiff in a high profile lawsuit with a major Airline leads detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) to a lawyer who will do anything, including multiple murders and perjury, to protect his big payday. Charlie Sawyer (guest star Adam Mastrelli), a plaintiff in a class action lawsuit involving the death of his father is a plane crash years earlier, is found shot to death in his car clutching an oxygen canister. The lawsuit had been delayed due to the murder of the judge in the case. The oxygen container is key to the airline’s defense in the lawsuit and Sawyer is looking to make a deal with Pan World that would leave the other plaintiffs and their attorney, Marty Winston (guest star Dallas Roberts), out of the money. Lupo and Bernard discover that Wilson has no alibi and discover damaging evidence against him, but A.D.A.'s Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Connie Rubirosa’s (Alana de la Garza) efforts to bring him to trial are challenged when Judge Clara Lloyd (guest star Mercedes Ruehl) makes a surprise ruling.     The investigation into the death of a troubled nypd officer Leads to a trail of murder over stolen memorabilia. An NYPD officer troubled over mounting financial difficulties is killed by fellow police officers after taking hostages at gunpoint. As detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) look into the incident, they discover valuable stolen documents hidden in the officer’s apartment, along with a dead body. The search leads the detectives to John “Jay” McIntyre (Guest Star Christopher McDonald) who is trying to establish that he is the illegitimate son of a famous President and is searching for the proof. A.D.A's Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza) confront Jay's mother Lois (Guest Star Rue McClanahan) to find out if there is any truth to his claim. With a robbery and two murders to solve, the detectives aren’t sure if they are searching for a single killer or multiple killers as they try to unravel the facts of the cases. Also stars S.     The investigation into the murder of truck company owner Leads to a twisted tale of love, fraud and the Russian mob. Vic Russell, a trucking company owner, is found murdered after a business meeting with a partner, Stan Klein (Guest Star Adam Grupper). Detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) discover that Klein may have been involved in an illegal scheme to defraud Russell and others. As the investigation continues, the detectives also uncover a trail that leads them to believe that Russell had ties to the Russian mob and Alex Arshavin (Guest Star Michael Aranov), a loan shark. The key to the murder is an expensive watch stolen from Russell’s dead body. As A.D.A’s Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza) bring the case to trial, they discover that their star witness, Klein’s son Chad (Guest Star Robert Iler) may be involved in a secret love affair and have his own motive for murder.     Detectives discover the body of an infant in the rubble of a Bombed army recruitment center. A war widow with a possible grudge against the Army, Carly Di Gravia (guest star MacKenzie Mauzy), is found unconscious in the rubble of an Army Recruitment Center along with her lifeless infant. As detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) search for the bomber, they encounter Megaphone Bob, the leader of a group of war protesters, including Charles Cavell, whose sister was killed in Iraq. The detectives must also deal with the confusion that arises when "Operation Molly," a couple of fanatic citizens who like to work with the police to solve cases, gets involved. ADA's Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza) efforts to bring the bomber to justice are complicated by potentially compromised evidence, reasonable doubt and public sentiment. DA Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) must make one of the most unpopular decisions of his career. Also stars S. Epatha Merkerson.

    A murder investigation by Detectives Lupo and Bernard involves prosecutors in an international conspiracy. Mysterious emails sent from a religious website lead detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) to the dead body of one of its creators. As the detectives search for a motive for the murder, they uncover a network of corruption involving the Second Exodus charitable foundation and it’s leader Nathan Reese (Guest Star Jason Butler Harner) and manager George Duffy (Guest Star John Sharian). D.A. Jack McCoy’s (Sam Waterston) efforts to bring the suspect to trial are complicated by a complex scheme by the suspect to avoid prosecution that involves seeking asylum from a foreign government. As McCoy attempts to unravel the international intrigue, he must also fight for his job and his career when his political opponent exploits the case and uses the media to attack Jack's reputation.     Bailout

    The death of a bank executive’s mistress is tied to a ransom plot. Detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) investigate the possible hitand- run death of the mistress of failed investment bank CEO, Andy Gardner (Guest Star Andy Gardner). As they investigate, they uncover a kidnapping and extortion plot leading them to a number of possible suspects, including a disgruntled client Davey Burke (Guest Star Jon Prescott). The detectives also uncover a connection between Carlos Padilla (Guest Star E. J. Bonilla), one of the boys who discovered the woman’s body, and Ronny Addison, the director of an after school program for juvenile offenders who may have a connection to Burke. ADA’s Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza) must deal with conflicting alibis as they attempt to try the case. Also starring S. Epatha Merkerson and Sam Waterston.

    Take-Out

    The search for the killer of a writer leads the detectives to a past espionage case. Alex Boone (Guest Star Neal Jones), a middle-aged writer, and David Sutton (Guest Star Michael Esper), a graduate student, are involved in a heated altercation. The following day, Boone’s dead body is found in a local park with no identification and the only eyewitness describing a blur running from the scene. Once detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) identify the victim, the story of his past begins to unfold. While searching for clues to solve the current murder case, the detectives discover that the victim was trying to expose information about a closed espionage case involving Sutton’s father and the Chinese government. Lupo and Bernard discover a family torn apart as a result of the espionage case and question Sutton’s sister Tracy (Guest Star Monica West), revealing his possible involvement in Boone’s murder. When the detectives believe they have gotten closer to revealing the truth, new information emerges and leads them in an entirely new direction.     The murder of a television reporter leads the detectives to a major hedge fund fraud. As they search for the killer, the detectives uncover that Dawn was working on a major story surrounding a huge hedge fund fraud and there may be a connection with the recent murder of Fred Decker, a whistle-blower who filed an SEC suit against hedge fund owner, Fredric Matson (Guest Star Edward Hermann) and his wife Irene (Guest Star Jill Eikenberry).     Dick Wolf

    Dick Wolf, one of television's most respected drama series creator/producers, is the architect of one of the most successful brands in the history of television – NBC's "Law & Order."     Wolf's personal honors include such awards as: the prestigious Award of Excellence from the Banff Television Festival; the 2002 Creative Achievement Award from NATPE; the Anti- Defamation League's Distinguished Entertainment Industry Award; the Leadership and Inspiration Award from the Entertainment Industries Council; the Governor's Award from the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences; the 1997 Achievement Award from the Caucus for Producers, Writers, and Directors, the 1998 Television Showman of the Year Award from the Publicists Guild of America, and the 2002 Tribute from the Museum of Television and Radio. On March 29, 2007, Wolf received a star on Hollywood's world-famous Walk of Fame.

    Wolf is also an Honorary Consul of Monaco and is actively involved in the principality's prestigious annual television festival, and is its primary liaison with the entertainment community.

  • Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Cutter

    Linus Roache

    Linus Roache returns to the regular cast of NBC's Emmy Award-winning "Law & Order," as Michael Cutter, Executive Assistant District Attorney – the former office held by Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) before McCoy was elevated to district attorney.

    The versatile Roache also starred in NBC's drama "Kidnapped" and in the feature film "Batman Begins," opposite Christian Bale. He also co-starred as the Levite priest Aaron in the television miniseries "The Ten Commandments," as Robert Kennedy in the television movie "RFK," for which he received a Golden Globe nomination, and in the feature film "The Chronicles of Riddick."

    He first gained worldwide recognition as the title character in Antonia Bird's critically acclaimed film, "Priest."

    Roache was most recently seen in "Before the Rains," acclaimed Indian director Santosh Sivan's first English speaking feature, and "Yonkers Joe" opposite Chazz Palminteri. Roache has appeared in Mira Nair's "Namesake," Sydney Lumet's "Find Me Guilty," Michael Cuesta's "12 and Holding," Joseph Ruben's "The Forgotten," and John Furse's "Blind Flight," opposite Ian Hart, for which he received a Scottish BAFTA Award nomination in the Best Actor category. Additional films include Iain Softley's screen adaptation of the Henry James classic novel, "Wings of the Dove," opposite Helena Bonham Carter; Martin Campbell's "Beyond Borders,” co-starring Angelina Jolie; John Polson's "Siam Sunset"; Gregory Hoblit's "Hart's War"; and Julian Temple's "Pandaemonium," for which Roache won the Best Actor Award at the Evening Standard Film Awards.

    On the small screen, Roache has starred in HBO's award-winning "The Gathering Storm," for which he won the Golden Satellite Award for best actor in a supporting role. His other television projects include leading roles in "Shot Through the Heart," also for HBO and the BBC miniseries "Seaforth."

    His extensive theatrical experience includes "Richard II" and "Coriolanus," opposite Ralph Fiennes at London's Almeida Theatre and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

    Alana De La Garza

    Alana De La Garza returns to the esteemed cast of NBC's Emmy Award-winning series "Law & Order," now entering its 19th season. De La Garza reprises her role as the Assistant District Attorney Connie Rubirosa.

    De La Garza was seen on "CSI: Miami" as the wife of police officer Horatio Caine (David Caruso) and on the series "The Book of Daniel."

    Born in Columbus, Ohio, to a Mexican-American father and an Irish-American mother, De La Garza relocated to Texas as a child, where she ultimately attended the University of Texas to pursue a career in physical therapy. She then moved to Orlando and landed roles in a series of local independent films and worldwide commercials. Her passion for acting soon took her to New York, where she studied extensively under the renowned acting instructor Joanna Beckson, who is a founding member of the Circle Repertory Company. Soon after, she got her first break playing Rosa Santos on the daytime drama "All My Children."

    De La Garza then moved to Los Angeles and quickly landed a series of guest-starring roles on "JAG," NBC's "Las Vegas," and "Two and a Half Men." She was then cast as a series lead on "The Mountain," and has also had guest-starring turns on "Smallville" and "Charmed."

    De La Garza's film credits include the 2006 romantic comedy "Mr. Fix It" opposite David Boreanaz.

    Anthony Anderson

    Anthony Anderson returns to the cast of NBC's Emmy Award-winning drama "Law & Order" for the 19th season. Anderson plays internal affairs Detective Kevin Bernard opposite Jeremy Sisto as Detective Cyrus Lupo, his new partner.

    Anderson has appeared in over 20 films, and his recent performance as the star in the New Orleans-based drama "K-Ville" earned him a fourth NAACP Image Award nomination. Last summer his talent was on display again in the DreamWorks' blockbuster "Transformers," directed by Michael Bay; and last year the ambitious Anderson appeared in Martin Scorsese's Oscar winning feature, "The Departed," with a stellar cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson.

    He first gained attention as one of Jim Carrey's sons in "Me, Myself, and Irene," and has subsequently appeared in such films as "Scary Movie 3," "Barbershop," "Kangaroo Jack," "Exit Wounds," "Cradle 2 the Grave," "Two Can Play That Game," and "Malibu's Most Wanted." Anderson also starred opposite Eddie Griffin and Michael Imperioli in "My Baby's Daddy," opposite Frankie Muniz in "Agent Cody Banks 2" and had a cameo in "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle." He brought his talent and humor to the small screen in his own WB sitcom "All About the Andersons" which was loosely based on his life. Anderson appeared in the policedrama television series, "The Shield," opposite Michael Chiklis and Glenn Close.

    Anderson grew up in Los Angeles. While pursuing his acting career, he continued his education by attending the High School for the Performing Arts, where he earned first place in the NAACP's ACTSO Awards with his performance of the classic monologue from "The Great White Hope." That performance, along with his dedication to his craft, earned him an arts scholarship to Howard University.

    Anderson currently lives in Los Angeles. He is married to his college sweetheart, and they have two children.

  • Detective Cyrus Lupo

    Jeremy Sisto

    Jeremy Sisto returns to the cast of NBC's Emmy Award-winning drama "Law & Order" for the 19th season. Sisto plays opposite Anthony Anderson as Detective Kevin Bernard.

    The Chicago native began his theatrical career early when he appeared onstage at the Goodman Theater in a production of Tennessee Williams' last play, "A House Not Meant to Stand," as well as Bertolt Brecht's "Galileo," opposite Brian Dennehy.

    In Los Angeles, Sisto's theater credits include: Richard Greenburg's Tony Award-winning play "Take Me Out" at the Geffen Playhouse (his performance earned him a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Featured Performance) and Sidney Kingsley's "Dead End" at the Ahmanson Theater. Sisto also recently made his Broadway debut in the play "Festen," a stage adaptation of Thomas Vintenberg's film "The Celebration."

    Sisto was part of the esteemed cast of HBO's award-winning drama series "Six Feet Under," in which he played the role of Billy Chenoweth for five seasons. His other television credits include the leads in two widely viewed miniseries -- "Jesus" and "Julius Caesar."

    On the feature-film side, Sisto's credits include "Thirteen" (opposite Holly Hunter), "Grand Canyon," "Clueless," "Without Limits," "White Squall," "Suicide Kings," "May," "Angel Eyes" and "Hideaway."

    Sisto also starred in and co-produced the independent film "One Point O," which played in the Sundance Film Festival dramatic competition.

    Sisto's recent films include the dramatic thriller, "Unknown," with Jim Caviezel; the edgy drama, "Broken," opposite Heather Graham; and the late Adrienne Shelley's "Waitress," the Sundance Film Festival hit comedy in which he stars opposite Keri Russell.

  • Lieutenant Anita Van Buren

    S. Epatha Merkerson

    An Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award winner, S. Epatha Merkerson has won critical acclaim for her brilliant work in theatre, television and film.

    Currently in her 15th season on the perennial hit series "Law & Order," Merkerson has received a 2006 NAACP Image Award and NAACP Image Award Nominations in 2007 and 2008 for her portrayal of Lieutenant Anita Van Buren.

    On stage, Merkerson was recently seen in "Come Back Little Sheba" on Broadway at the Biltmore Theatre for which she received a Tony nomination, a Drama League nomination and an Outer Critics Circle nomination. Michael Pressman directed the new production of William Inge's tender drama about a fragile marriage steeped in delusion and longing. Merkerson played Lola, a woman lost in her memories and caught in a stale, hapless 25-year marriage with Doc, a man who has his own struggles with the past. Lola opens their home to Marie, a fresh-faced young boarder, and soon the precarious balance of the couple's relationship is shaken by Marie's youthful sexuality and vivaciousness. She starred in the LA production of this at the Kirk Douglas Theater in summer 2007.

    Starring in the HBO film "Lackawanna Blues" as Rachel "Nanny" Crosby, Merkerson also garnered a 2006 NAACP Image Award, a Gracie Allen Award and an IFP Spirit nomination. Other film credits include: "The Rising Place," "Radio" (Cammie Award), "Jersey Girl," "Random Hearts," "Terminator II: Judgment Day," "Jacobs Ladder," "Navy Seals," "Loose Cannons" and "Black Snake Moan" with Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Ricci and Justin Timberlake.

    She was most recently seen in the independent film "Slipstream" written and directed by Anthony Hopkins. She stars opposite Anthony Hopkins, Fionnula Flanagan, Jeffrey Tambor and Camryn Manheim. The story is a noir comedy about an actor and would-be screenwriter who, at the very moment of his meeting with fate, comes to discover that life is random and fortune is sightless as he is thrown into a vortex where time, dreams and reality collide in an increasingly whirling slipstream. The film premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and opened in LA and New York on October 26th.

    Merkerson has co-starred in numerous television movies including "Girl, Positive" (for which she is nominated for a 2008 NAACP Image Award), "A Mother's Prayer" with Linda Hamilton, "An Unexpected Life" and "It's A Girl Thing" with Stockard Channing and "A Place For Annie" with Mary-Louise Parker and Sissy Spacek. In 1998, she reprised her role as Lt. Anita Van Buren for the NBC movie "Exiled" with Chris Noth.

    Prior to "Law & Order," Merkerson was a series regular on "Peewee's Playhouse" where she played "Reba The Mail lady," Dick Wolf's "Mann and Machine" and the "Cosby" spin-off "Here and Now" with Malcolm Jamal Warner. She also filmed pilots "Moe's World," "Elysian Fields" and "Equal Justice." She has made guest appearances on "The Cosby Show" the NBC comedy "Frasier" and can be seen in a three-episode arc of "The Closer."

    On stage, Merkerson has performed in productions on and off-Broadway including Suzan Lori Parks' "F**KING A" (Lucille Lortel nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress); August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Piano Lesson" (Tony, Drama Desk and Helen Hayes nominations for Best Actress); the Young Playwrights Festival's production of "I'm Not Stupid" (Obie Award); "The Old Settler" (Helen Hayes Award) and Cheryl West's' play "Birdie Blue" (Obie Award, Lucille Lortel nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress and Drama League Distinguished Performance Award).

  • District Attorney Jack McCoy

    Sam Waterston

    Acclaimed actor Sam Waterston, who has portrayed Executive Assistant District Attorney Jack McCoy on "Law & Order" for 15 seasons, will return with the series' 19th season in his newly promoted role, as the new District Attorney.

    Waterston is a six-time Emmy Award nominee (three times for "Law & Order" and three more for "I'll Fly Away") who won the award for hosting the 10-part NBC informational series "Lost Civilizations." He also received a Golden Globe for "I'll Fly Away" and earned the 1999 Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance as McCoy.

    In addition, Waterston earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his performance in "The Killing Fields," and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Most Promising Newcomer for his portrayal of Nick Carraway in "The Great Gatsby." He has also been nominated for several BAFTA Awards.

    Waterston's other notable feature credits include: the Woody Allen films "Interiors," "Hannah and Her Sisters" and "Crimes and Misdemeanors"; John Waters' "Serial Mom"; "Hopscotch" and "Heaven's Gate"; Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie" (with Katharine Hepburn) and "Eagle's Wing" with Martin Sheen and Harvey Keitel. He also starred opposite Jeff Bridges in Tom McGuane's "Rancho Deluxe" and with Reese Witherspoon in "Man in the Moon."

    In addition, Waterston starred opposite Jennifer Beals and LisaGay Hamilton in the television movie "A House Divided" (which he also produced), and he portrayed Abraham Lincoln opposite Mary Tyler Moore in Gore Vidal's miniseries "Lincoln." In addition, Waterston appeared in the NBC movie "The Matthew Shepard Story," which co-starred Stockard Channing. Recent films include "The Commission" with Martin Landau and "Le Divorce" with Kate Hudson, Glenn Close and Channing.

    The hiatuses between seasons of "Law and Order" have seen him at work on stage and on screen. In 2000, Waterston appeared in the Syracuse Stage production of Eugene O'Neill's "Long Day's Journey into Night." The critically praised production also starred his son, James Waterston ("Another Time," "The Lady and the Clarinet"), as well as Elizabeth Franz ("Death of a Salesman") and John Slattery. He starred in the world premiere production of David Rabe's "The Black Monk" at the Yale Repertory Theater in 2003 and, in 2005, as "Henry Carr" in Tom Stoppard's "Travesties" at the Longwharf Theater in New Haven.

    Waterston's other stage work includes myriad Broadway and off-Broadway productions including many plays with the New York Shakespeare Festival, such as "As You Like It," "Cymbeline," "Measure for Measure," "Hamlet," and "The Doll's House," with Liv Ullmann. He earned a Tony Award nomination for his role as Abe Lincoln in "Abe Lincoln in Illinois" at the Lincoln Center Theater in New York, as well as an Obie and Drama Desk Award for his portrayal of Benedick in "Much Ado About Nothing." In 2004 Waterston returned to The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park in a reprise production of "Much Ado About Nothing" and this time portrayed "Leonato" opposite his daughter, Elisabeth ("The Prince and Me") starring in the "Hero" role.

    Over the 2006 hiatus, he co-starred with Judy Davis in the premiere episode of the anthology series "Masters of Science Fiction" titled "A Clean Escape," directed by Academy Award-winner Mark Rydell.

    This season, he returned again to Shakespeare in the Park, playing Polonius to Michael Stuhlbarg's Hamlet.

    Waterston lives in Connecticut with his wife. Their children, James, Elisabeth, and Katherine, are a new generation of ever more successful actors, playing important roles on stage in New York, as well as on film and television. Their son Graham is a writer and director. They have two grandchildren.
